And the Winners are........

We would like to congratulate the following winners of our Hoopty photo & story contest!

Please note that, much like "ABC's Dancing with the Stars," although the hoopty-loving public was allowed to vote, final difficult decisions had to be made by our internal group of judges since certain qualifications had to be met to win (and in some cases ignored).

PHOTOs (left to right) Winners: Greatest Hoopty Story - Cathy, Biggest Hoopty - Damien, and last but not least, smallest Hoopty - Eva - all Winners proudly show off their "I love my Hoopty" bumper-sticker and CPCU Emergency Car Care Kit!

Photo Contest

Biggest Hoopty - Damien
Smallest Hoopty - Eva
Times Two Winner!!! Ugliest Color Hoopty AND Best Use of Duct Tape on a Hoopty! - Berry*

and the Best Hoopty Story:

This was a close one! The Over-all Crowd-pleaser (ie she got the most votes):
Cathy - the mental image of her driving her Hooopty in reverse down a California Freeway was just toooo much for our voters and our judges!

and Honorable Mentions:

Chocolate for the ever-lasting visual of fellow commuters wanting to drag-race "Gertie" in which she had her mom and 18-month old baby in tow (please do NOT share sad-tale with Britney Spears) and

Shaylin for her awesome addition of the hoopty-truck to our ever-loving hoopty-family!

Anonymous for her "Aluminum Foil to cover the AC Vents in the winter so she would not freeze."

Jerry for the "green rear door courtesy of parking too close to a tree, or was it a forest?"
and Hooptylicious' own story -Hooptylicous was disqualified from the prize but not the laughter - of "I dated a rock-star"

We are proud of all of YOU - hold your head up high and your hoopty together with the duct-tape (handily included in the winner's CPCU Emergency Car Care Kit!)

*Special Note: We would like to mention that although "Berry" won Ugliest Color/Best Use of Duct-tape (and may we add, best use of bungee cords) she (oops) was much too embarrassed to allow the Berry-mobile to be photographed (interestingly - we had ALOT of those "not-wished to be identified nor photographed entries"....hmmmmm?). However, the judges did feel that Berry qualified in every way for the contest since she actually "drove" the car for us to view and we again wish to apologize to her for the late arrival of the tow-truck that day....we hope the Berry-mobile is feeling better and able to enjoy the holidays with her owner.

Coming Soon! Our Contest Winners

Votes are being counted - entries are being verified - we will be announcing the winners of our Hoopty Photo and Story Contest(s) soon!

In the meantime, Hooptylicious would like to thank everyone who shared their love of their hoopty with us. The stories were oft-times hilarious and all were thoroughly enjoyed, especially when the hoopty-lover insisted on, not just telling us the story, but actually acting it out....

Continue forth Hoopty-lovers, duct-tape in hand.......

Our Heartfelt Apologies to all Cougar XR7s Convertible Owners

It has come to our attention that the car used as a generic representative of a Hoopty in our advertising has caused undue stress and despair in the world of "Classic Car" lovers.

We apologize. We never meant to imply that by using a Classic Cougar Convertible (with such a lovely shade of lime green) in our promotion that all such Cougars were "hooptified."

A Cougar owner in addition to providing us with a photo of his vehicle (see above) proudly explained to us the amazing history of the 1972 Cougar XR-7 Convertible w/the 351 Cleveland 2-Barrel (slow off the line but after that, very fast!):

Less than 2,000 were produced and most, if not junked, were parted out to rebuild Mustangs. As far as any records can determine, less than a few hundred remain. Clearly Hooptylicious, it was so very "wrong" to use this classic beauty as your "hoopty Poster Car." I hope, based on this information, you would agree!

We do agree sir - and to make it up to you - we are sending you your very own Carolina Postal Credit Union Emergency Car Care Kit - not that you would ever need it in the amazing Cougar XR-7 Convertible w/the 351 Cleveland 2-Barrel. (Hooptylicious, too, is slow off the line, but you will note, very fast in making up for any personal errors!!!!)

We had no idea that the Cougar XR-7 Convertible w/the 351 Cleveland 2-Barrel is now on the extinction list. And we are proud that you, and other dedicated Cougar lovers, are diligently working to protect and serve the remaining few.

Again, our humble apologies!
